Property Taxes to be collected via LUKU

As per the changes adopted in the budget for 2021/2022, property taxes will now be collected via LUKU (TANESCO’s prepaid electricity token system).

Below are the Q&A’s released by TRA to clarify some concerns:

The following are some important notes:

  1. TZS 12,000 per standard structure within a compound (previously TZS 10,000).
  2. TZS 60,000 per floor for a building with several floors (previously TZS 50,000).
  3. TZS 60,000 per building regardless of floors for buildings within small towns.
  4. TZS 1,000 per month deducted via LUKU for a normal house.
  5. TZS 5,000 per month deducted via LUKU per each floor in a building.
  6. Payment via control number will continue for buildings & homes without electricity.
  7. TRA to be contacted if taxpayer feels he has been deducted wrongly
